Background: The GIZ project “Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector” (hereafter called as the project or Green Innovation Centre) is part of the Special Initiative "Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems" (SI AGER) earlier known as “One World – No Hunger” (SEWOH) of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project addresses poverty and hunger by establishing Green Innovation Centres for the agriculture and food sector in 15 countries, amongst them India. For the Green Innovation Centres India, sustainable agri-business, local innovation systems and competence development are the core concerns. In addition, the project is committed to the cross-cutting issues of water and soil management, climate change adaptation, renewable energy, gender, youth employment, digitalisation, and agri-research, along value chains based on three crops: tomato, potato and apple in the Indian states Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. Objectives:
The overall objective of this activity is to install seven (25) 1000 liters of solar powered biofermenter in selected areas in the 2 districts of the Himachal Pradesh in Kullu and Shimla
The specific objectives are: • Train the identified farmers on Solar powered bio fermenters. • Install 25 Solar powered bio fermenters in the districts of Kullu and Shimla.
• Demonstrate natural farming practices and impacts of bio inputs. • Develop operations and maintenance of Solar powered bio fermenter manual.
The detail farmer list will be shared by the project to the firm/agency based on which the firm/agency does a due diligence on feasibility analysis of the installations of Solar powered bio fermenter. The firm/agency to consider solar irradiation factor, availability of raw materials especially the native cow, suitable location, farmers contribution on land and the stand for fit the tanks and purchase of 1000 litre tanks. Focuses on training and development part at the community level to ensure sustainable repair and maintenance of the system by the community. Detail documentation of pre and post installation of the technology will be done by the consultant.
Post installation a certification of the completion report for each of the sight to be documented by consultant. Consultant hands over operations and maintenance manual in each of the site installation in local language.
